Piccolo's Folly (Episode 129)

The Summary

Fly Vegeta, fly! Yep you guessed it, this episode began with Vegeta flying through the air towards this great power that he feels (or powers). 3 eyes (Tien) is also on his way. Meanwhile Piccolo and Cell stare at each other and appear to be very sexually attracted to each other. To put this in other words...they just stare at each other for a while. Very nerve-racking indeed. Anyways Piccolo decides to speak up and says to Cell, that even though he stole some of his energy, he is still strong enough to beat him. Piccolo also clues Cell into how he got his power. Which of course was by fusing with Kami. Cell finds this convenient because, now the dragonballs are gone and none of the Z warriors can be wished back. Piccolo appears to be tired of talk and prepares to start fighting again, but the fight is interrupted because Kuririn and Trunks arrive at GingerTown. Trunks looks at Cell and instantly believes that that is the creature from the time capsule. Kuririn is totally freaked out by Cell, no surprise there. Piccolo is now ready to destroy Cell, and says that the 3 of them can easily take down Cell. Cell says that when he becomes perfect Piccolo won't be so lucky. Piccolo explains to Trunks and Kuririn about how Cell can do the Kamehameha and such. This and the fact that Cell knows Kuririn's name surprises Kuririn to the core. Cell obviously not wanting to risk it, slowly flies in the air and does a solar flare, blinding the Z warriors as he flies off to devour more people. His next goal is to go after #17 & #18.

After the solar flare dies down, they realize that Cell inhereted that technique from Tien. Piccolo is pissed off and flys around growling like a bear. All the while Cell is rushing towards the closest town he can to devour more people before his encounter with the other androids.

Anyways the scenes soon jump back to Goku's house. Gohan, Yamcha, and pals are all around Goku as he sleeps peacefully in bed. They start talking about how they need Goku's help in the battle, and this raises ChiChi's bitch level to an all time high as she tells everyone not even to take that idea into consideration...tsk..tsk..selfish.

Meanwhile Vegeta finally catches up to Piccolo, Trunks, and Kuririn at Ginger Town. Piccolo is seriously pissed about losing Cell and starts raising his power level in anger. Vegeta notices this and can't believe Piccolo's strength! Vegeta wants to know what happened at GingerTown. Piccolo tells him to wait until Tien arrives. Vegeta also wants to know how Piccolo got so strong, and Trunks explains it is because Piccolo merged with Kami. Vegeta realizes that Piccolo (a simple namek) is more powerful then him (The prince of all saiyans, and a SSJ at that). Tien arrives and Kuririn tries to alert Piccolo of his presense in a somewhat funny manner, he keeps on messing up Piccolo's name (calling him Piccolo, then Kami), and Piccolo simply tells Kuririn to call him just Piccolo. After that Piccolo explains to Vegeta, Trunks, Tien, and Kuririn about what has happened, and who Cell is. At this very time Cell is finishing off the last of the f! ootball players and soon the bus driver. And as for the other 3 androids, they are still on their way to Goku's house taking their sweet time--Piccolo explains that they either have to track down Cell and destroy him, or they could go after #17 and 18 and destroy them so Cell can't absorb them. At this time Vegeta is having a hard time believing that every time he achieves a new greater strength there is always someone who is better then him (face it Vegeta, that is DBZ for you). This episode ends with Cell heading towards the next town, to devour all the people.

The Review

The Good & Bad: Was I impressed? Impressed I was. Again this is the first review I did regarding Cell's voice. That is EXACTLY how I pictured Cell should sound. And to think all this time I thought he was going to sound like a cowboy! Ok not that extreme, but anyways...I am sure that you all have noticed Cell's theme music. It sort of takes a instrumental rock tone to it. Now again, this may be a plus for the younger viewers, but for all those older hardcore fans, this just ruins the moments. I personally don't mind his theme, it isn't really that great tho. Oh yeah and the dialogue seems to be getting closer and closer as the episodes progress. I personally don't expect their words to match those I see on the fansubs, because fansubs themselves are translated by people, who may make mistakes.

Episode Flaws: This isn't really a flaw but...did any of you notice how one of those football players looked like Super Saiyan Vegeta? Vegeta taking up other hobbies...hmmmm

Final Word: I end this review by saying......expect A LOT of staring contests in the future episodes. And what I mean by this is that there will be points where the characters stare at each other for an absurd amount of time. Today wasn't that bad, but there WILL be worse, I assure you. This episode doesn't contain that much action, it is more of a repeat of what has already happened (Piccolo explaining to the others the Cell situation). Don't expect too much action in tomorrow's episode either. This saga does contain some of the best action in the series, but the price you have pay is constantly hearing the same things over again, and watching the characters staring at each other for 20 minutes and start fighting the during the last minute of the episode. I know I exaggerate, but many will agree.

Rating: 4.4/5 (*Gives FUNimation a doggy biscuit* Good work!)
